Lands End Way, Oakham
450m3 of Heavy Duty Storm Water Attenuation
Contract Value: £100,000
This was the second of two main areas of attenuation within this phase of the 100+ plot development.
Ground conditions of clay and then rock bands, with limited access points, dictated an open cast excavation. Around 1500m3 of muck had to be brought out of the hole in dumpers and deposited, some for later backfilling.
Then began the process of running the gravel base in and levelling off. Due to the single access point, the work had to be carried out in sections. So once the first 6m was ready, the terram had to be placed and the aquacell units brought into position.
This process was repeated through the hole, until the units were complete and wrapped up tight.
A final layer of gravel was placed on top, before backfilling to the surface, to allow for future use.
This area is now a children’s playground.
All works were successfully completed on time within a 3 week window.
